The Andrew Carmellini rumor du jour is that the chef/restaurateur is working on a new project in the space inside the Smyth Tribeca hotel that formerly housed Ed Cotton's stinker Plein Sud. This bit of gossip comes via Tribeca Citizen, who hears about the deal from "a very reputable source." This would be somewhat surprising news, considering that Carmellini already runs a very successful hotel restaurant just a few blocks away, and he's also got his hands full with a new project on the Bowery.
