Eataly, the wildly popular Italian market/restaurant complex from Mario Batali and Joe Bastiniach, might be getting a Downtown sibling in the near future. The Post reports that a new branch of Eataly will open at 4 World Trade Center along with a slew of other high-end retails operations next year.
The Eataly team has not confirmed that a second Manhattan location is in the works, and neither has Westfield Group, which controls the retail space at the World Trade Center. The Post is citing unnamed sources. Eater has reached out to the Eataly camp for more details.
The new branch of Eataly would be in direct competition with Le District, the new French-style market that's opening next year near the World Trade Center. Stay tuned for more details as they become available.
