Diner Journal, the quarterly food magazine put out by Andrew Tarlow, was originally meant to be a four-issue, self-published cookbook by Diner's original chef, Caroline Fidanza. Now it's on its 27th issue, includes poetry and fiction as well as recipes, and has become, as editor in chief Anna Dunn puts it, a way to "explore and form our ideas" about what Tarlow's restaurants should be.
