Aureole's New Liberty Room; Alder's Themed Wine Lists

New, 2 comments

MIDTOWN — Charlie Palmer is launching a new, more casual portion of Aureole called The Liberty Room. The space, which was formerly just the bar dining room of the restaurant, now serves its own menu of bar snacks like beef sirloin sliders and foie gras mousse, and dishes like duck casserole. The outdoor space next to the Liberty Room is now known as The Patio, and serves the same casual menu. [EaterWire]

EAST VILLAGE — Alder is introducing a new wine list that rotates every month or so by theme. The theme at the moment is mountain wines, including wines from mountainous regions across the world. Next month it will start to shift to a new, undisclosed theme. [EaterWire]

WILLIAMSBURG — Ten cookbook authors are competing in a "Food Book Slam" on April 26 as part of this year's Food Book Fair. The competitors, who include Rawia Bishara of Tanoreen and Tom Mylan of The Meat Hook, will have five minutes to read a section of their book out loud and try to win the audience's applause. The slam starts at 10 a.m., and tickets are available online for $25. [BP]

LAS VEGAS — Here's a look at Daniel Boulud's new Vegas restaurant, DB Brasserie, which opens Thursday at the Venetian. The opening marks Boulud's return to Vegas, following the closure of Daniel Boulud Brasserie back in 2010. The space is big and gleaming, and the menu includes plenty of Boulud classics.
