After months of delays, noodle master Ivan Orkin will open his first stand-alone New York ramen restaurant, Ivan Ramen, on May 9. Ivan will not serve any of the rice bowls that are currently offered at Ivan Ramen Slurp Shop in Gotham West Market, and there will be little overlap in terms of the ramen.
Ivan Ramen's menu will have five kinds of ramen, including versions made with whole wheat and rye noodles. Flo Fab notes that one of the dishes on the menu will be a four cheese mazeman "that could be accused of infringing on mac and cheese." Sounds like a winner. To round out the noodles, Ivan Ramen will also offer things like a little gem salad, fried chicken hearts, and a "tofu Coney Island." Stay tuned for pictures of the space later this week.
