CRONUT MANIA — After that first (and disappointing to some) stop in the Flatiron, Dominique Ansel continued his surprise Cronut/cookie shot/towel giveaway with stops in Chinatown, Union Square, Washington Square Park, the Meatpacking District, Columbus Circle, and the West Village After that first stop, Ansel was giving out 20 to 30 Cronuts (and lots of towels) per location. As the day wore one, some people apparently got pretty good at guessing the next stop on their own. And it turns out those "fun cards" were for complimentary madeleines. [EaterWire]

SOUTH STREET SEAPORT — Mark Joseph Steakhouse is hosting a winemaker's dinner on April 28. The five-course dinner includes dishes like seared scallops with spinach, grilled lamb chops, and a porterhouse steak with hash browns and creamed spinach, all of which come with wine pairings from Miro Tcholakov of Trentadue Vineyard. The meal is $105 per person and reservations can be made online. [EaterWire]

MEATBALLWIRE — Ikea plans to introduce a vegetarian version of its famed Swedish meatballs. The head of sustainability for the cheap furniture superstore says the addition is part of an effort to reduce the company's carbon footprint. Chicken meatballs and a less carbon intensive version of the original meatballs are also in the works. [~EN~]
