Chef Sarah Simmons and the team from City Grit are opening a new restaurant with a focus on fried chicken and Champagne called Bird & Bubbles. In a newsletter announcement sent to fans and followers this morning, Simmons explains that the restaurant will also serve "elevated southern dishes" in addition to the fried chicken, and Bird & Bubbles will have "an amazing list of bubbles, wines, craft beers, and cocktails coming from the bar." They've signed the lease on a space near City Grit, although Simmons has yet to reveal the exact location.
The chef was planning to move City Grit last year, but now it sounds like the culinary salon is safe in its current home. The calendar includes guest chef events and special dinners scheduled through June. Simmons and her crew will preview some of the dishes from Bird & Bubbles at the end of the month. If everything goes according to plan, Bird & Bubbles will open by the end of the year.
