Sam Mason and partners Mohan and Holiday Kumar are planning a new location of their hit ice cream parlor Oddfellows Ice Cream Co. at 75 East 4th St. in the East Village. The original Williamsburg location opened last June with a menu of classic and non-traditional ice creams, sundaes, and floats. Mason tells Grub Street:
The dynamics of the neighborhood are ice-cream friendly...And I think it's a strategic place for our first outpost, as far as moving ice cream from point A to B. Not to say that Park Slope won't be in the cards as well. The Upper West Side might be a bit of a stretch.So, expect more Oddfellows Ice Cream Co. locations in the future if shop number two is a success. Mason and the Kumars might also expand into wholesale.
The new shop will serve eight flavors of ice cream to start, plus shakes and sundaes, and the space will have a small counter with seating for about five people. Oddfellows East Village is slated to open in May.
