Pies 'n' Thighs is Opening a Lunch Counter on Canal St.

Pies 'n' Thighs co-owner Sarah Sanneh confirms that the Williamsburg fried chicken joint is indeed opening a second outpost on the Lower East Side. She tells Bedford + Bowery that the new place at 43 Canal Street will have "more of a lunch counter vibe" than the original, with a smaller dining room in the back. The menu will include "all the classics," but will probably "go heavy with the sandwiches." That means Williamsburg specials like the reuben might go into regular rotation, alongside that beloved chicken biscuit. As of now, the team is aiming to be open by summer.

Meanwhile, Ulli Rimkus has also confirmed that Max Fish is looking to reopen in the old Gallery Bar space at 120 Orchard Street. She's working on getting a liquor license there, but says that doesn't necessarily rule out a Williamsburg location, as has long been the plan.
