JBF's Cookbook Sale, Cocktail Class at Momofuku, More

Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining events going on around the city:

When: Today, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: The Beard House
What: Check out the restaurant industry version of a sample sale.The James Beard Foundation will have more than 1,000 cookbooks (new and used) available at their biannual sale. Head over to the James Beard website for more info.
cocktail.jpg2) Momofuku Cocktail Class
When: Sunday, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Booker and Dax
What: This class teaches the fundamentals of prepping for a cocktail party: everything from shopping to pro tips on mixing drinks. Momofuku vets John Debary and Maura McGuigan will be teaching and the tickets cost $75.

When: Sunday, 3:45 p.m.
Where:Brooklyn Navy Yard
What: $15 will get you a lesson on the history of moonshine production, a tour of Kings County Distillery, and, most importantly, some whiskey to sample.

When: Today , 2 p.m.
Where: Bowery Culinary Center
What: Here's a chance to learn more about Irish culinary traditions than just how to cook with Guiness. Just in time for St. Patrick's Day, this class teaches you how to make classic Irish dishes, including a Dublin-style parsnip colcannon, beef stew, and a traditional Irish cake. Tickets will run you $45.

When: Sunday at noon
Where: Pulperia
What: Copious amounts of seafood paella and sangria will be flowing on the LES this Sunday. The brunch lasts for two hours and is all you can eat and drink. If you have the fortitude, stay for a live book reading they'll be having after the meal.

They'll be debuting a few new dishes on the menu too, including a foie gras terrine with sesame and parsnip, and poached monkfish in bone broth with beet "raisins." And Butter's starting a buffet brunch on Sunday with staples like waffles, pastries, salads, smoked salmon, breakfast meats, and omelettes. The meal will set you back $59, including a glass of wine.
