Four & Twenty Cafe Now Open at Brooklyn Public Library

Sisters Emily and Melissa Elsen officially opened their Four and Twenty Blackbirds Café in the Central Brooklyn Public Library today. The pair behind one of Brooklyn's most beloved pie shops has been operating a temporary version of the cafe, with a limited menu, since the beginning of the month, but today is the day they roll out the full menu in the renovated space and actually start serving pie.

Grub Street reports that the flavors today include lemon chess, black bottom oat, and salted caramel apple, but those are bound to rotate just as the flavors in the Gowanus shop do. There's also a solid menu of other breakfast pastries from the Elsens, including brioche, lemon poppyseed muffins, and egg-in-a-nest biscuits. Brothers John and Mike Poiarkoff, the chefs at The Pines and Vinegar Hill House respectively, have also put together a little lunch menu, which to start includes butternut squash soup and BLTs.
