GREENWICH VILLAGE — The team behind the Upper West Side's Osteria Cotta is opening a restaurant called Carroll Place on Bleecker Street. The new place will be an "Italian-American wine bar and gastropub," serving new dishes plus some brought down from Osteria Cotta. It's slated to open this April. [EaterWire]
MIDTOWN — Betony will begin serving dinner on Sundays this weekend. According to Grub Street, Bryce Shuman has also added quite a few new dishes to the menu, including a foie gras terrine with sesame and parsnip, and poached monkfish in bone broth with beet "raisins." [GS]
UNION SQUARE — Simon Oren, the operator of the highly controversial restaurant planned for the Union Square Pavilion has selected Wayne Nish as his executive chef. Long ago, Nish was the chef at the celebrated March, and then Nish. The restaurant is now officially named The Pavilion, and is moving ahead despite opposition. [EaterWire; NYT]
