Death & Co Team Opening Nitecap Beneath Schapiro's

David Kaplan and Alex Day, the drink experts behind Death & Co. have teamed up with former Maison Premiere bartender Natasha David to open Nitecap, a new cocktail lounge in the basement beneath Schapiro's. According to the Wall Street Journal, the pair "wanted to create the kind of place where they'd go after a shift at Death & Co," and Kaplan says the menu "embraces the idea of the last drink of the night...those great, little non-fussy, end-of-the-night things."

David Shemesh and Eyal Tov, the owners of Schapiro's, approached Kaplan and Day about doing a bar in the basement back when they were planning the restaurant, and it's been in the works ever since. Now, many months after the restaurant, the bar is finally slated to open on March 21. When it does, it will serve bar snacks from Schapiro's, but have it's own entrance right next door.
