Hurricane Sandy destroyed Barbarini Alimentari, but two of its owners, Stefano Barbagallo and Adriana Luque, reopened the space last fall as a new Italian restaurant called Barbalu. Stefano and Adriana have been serving guests in the restaurant's cafe space for the last few months, but tonight — 469 days after the storm — they will finally open the main dining room. The menu includes salads, pastas, and entrees like veal scaloppine and potato-crusted salmon, and so far the early word is very good. For more on how Stefano and Adriana dealt with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, take a look at Eater's original documentary series, The Sandy Chronicles.
