Monarch Room, a Handsome New American Restaurant

Here is a look around The Monarch Room, a new West Chelsea American restaurant from Lisle Richards and Eric Marx of the recently-formed Metric Group. The design gurus at Roman and Williams created a dark, but elegant space that's partially inspired by the cruise ships of the early 20th century. The menu from Freemans veteran Michael Citarella reads like a greatest hits list of New York 2013/2014 — it includes raw bar items, small "share" dishes, appetizers, roast suckling pig, a strip steak, a mixed grill plate, and, of course, a chicken for two. The space has a downstairs bar dubbed Gilded Lily.
