Slugger Ann

Jeremiah's Vanishing New York tells the tale of Slugger Ann and her eponymously named bar. Slugger Ann had a "tough Sicilian demeanor and fists like cured hams," Leee Black Childers described her "red, red lipstick and black, black mascara...with kindness and love in her eyes." Also she had a pet monkey Rufus. [JVNY]
