Keith McNally responds to that rumor circulating around that Pastis will reopen in a space down the block while something called the "Restoration Hardware Hotel" opens in its place. In response to this latest rumor, McNally writes: "No truth to this whatsoever. Pastis will open on the spot as soon as the building's renovations are complete." The folks at Restoration Hardware (which does not, at the moment, even have a hotel brand) also tell Eater there are no plans for a hotel there.
This does not, however, change the fact that Pastis closes after service this Friday for a year-long hiatus while the landlord renovates the building. Meanwhile, all rumors aside, the Post has rounded up some memories from the restaurant's multitude of celebrity clientele. Among the many recollections of that "big, happy family," Martha Stewart recalls celebrating "birthdays, Sundays, Emmys and book publications," and Daniel Boulud remembers dining on roast chicken with Gérard Depardieu.
