Rubirosa's longtime general manager Bari Musacchio is planning a new Grand Street project with Barney Greengrass veteran David Heffernan called Baz Bagel and Restaurant. This will be a 35-seat full service restaurant serving bagels and appetizing fare, as well as home-style dishes like blintzes, French toast, and matzoh ball soup. Ms. Musacchio tells Eater: "We will be making all of our own bagels on site as well as an excellent selection of smoked fish/salads/cheese/etc." The space will have a long dining bar, a few tables, and a to-go counter.
Bari is finishing up her tenure at Rubirosa this week, but she says that she's still going to consult on the operations there, and she will "still be a part of the Rubirosa family." If everything goes according to plan, Baz Bagel and Restaurant will open in April.
