Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are five choice dining events going on around the city:

600_305374232.jpg 1) Make Homemade Chocolate
When: Today, 2 p.m.
Where: MakerBar
What: Learn everything there is to know about cocoa beans, including the different varieties, flavors and, most importantly, how to turn them into a bar of chocolate . Tickets are $50.

When: Tonight, 7:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Where: Clinton Hall
What: Start off Beer Week the right way with a tasting at Clinton Hall. They've put together an intriguing line up of rare and funky beer, including the only keg in New York of La Boheme, a wild sour beer brewed with Brett, aged in red wine barrels, and steeped in Michigan tart cherries for 6 months. Other brews to try: Perennial Trixie, which is made with grape must, Heart of Gold, an American wheat wine, redolent of molasses, brown sugar, and biscuits, an Imperial Coffee Stout and a Peach Berliner Weisse. This event is free to attend, but you might want to RSVP to hold a spot.

batchery.jpg 3) Batchery Market
When: Today, 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: Bat Haus
What: This pop-up food market features fifteen small batch vendors who will be offering samples of their product, everything from salsa, to spicy honey, and even cookies. All of these businesses are based out of Brooklyn so you'd be supporting the 'hood by coming out, in case you need an extra incentive.

Traditional_Margarita.jpg 4) National Margarita Day
When: All day
Where: Everywhere
What: Fairly self explanatory. This is a great excuse to pretend like it's warmer out than it is and make some dubious choices after drinking tequila. You can go anywhere to get a margarita, but there are a few places that are offering specials, like Mercadito, where you're entered into a raffle for a free round of drinks every time you order a margarita. The Mulberry Project is making a riff on the margarita for the special day called Chill and Smoke, with Thai peppers and honey syrup. And Phil Ward's tequila/mezcal den, Mayahuel, can be counted to mix a dope margarita as well.

beer_week1.jpg 5) Brunch and Beer
When: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Taproom No. 307
What: Can't decide between celebrating beer week with a micro brew or getting brunch with your friends? Have the best of both worlds at this brunch hosted Empire Brewing, which pairs beer with their brunch menu menu. You can choose between the White Aphro, Amber Ale, Cream Ale, and a special release beer called Sweet Fire, a chocolate chili stout. All are only $6 during brunch.

Also of Note: In case you don't already have enough boozing options for the weekend, check out the recently updated winter edition of the Cocktail Heatmap for some hot spots to get a drink.
