Má Pêche is no longer offering executive chef Paul Carmichael's 10-course Kappo tasting menu. The news comes just hours after Carmichael was named a semifinalist for the James Beard Foundation's Best Chef New York award. But, the good news is that, starting today, the restaurant is now offering a new selection of "passed plates" from Carmichael in addition to the regular a la carte menu items. Basically, it sounds like Má Pêche is now serving its own version of dim sum, with dishes like black bass with foie, cod fish fritters, jerk wings, shrimp balls, and cheesy biscuits. These plates are served from a cart, just like at any of the city's big dim sum parlors.
Close followers of David Chang's Twitter account may have noticed that the chef has been fixating on dim sum lately. Now it looks like he and Carmichael are giving it a shot. Check out the new, dim sum-ified Má Pêche menu, and please send any early reports our way:
