Dining Experiments

jpALFRESCO01-master675.jpg Andy Newman takes his family to eat dinner at an outdoor table in Little Italy in the dead of winter, presumably just to see if they can do it. The difficulties of dining al fresco in freezing weather are brought up, such as trying to eat pasta with gloves on and losing all the sensation in your mouth. In those temperatures it behooves you to to eat and drink fast: "I looked over at my wife's once-steaming glass of chamomile tea. A layer of ice had formed across the top." [NYT]
