Chef Gabriel Kreuther, who recently announced his departure from The Modern, reveals that his next project, as yet unnamed, will be housed in the Grace Building overlooking Bryant Park on 42nd Street. Flo Fab reports that this new "high-end French-American" restaurant will open "in about a year" with a dining room from designer Glen Coben. The new project will also have a retail component.
Kreuther, who helmed the kitchen at The Modern since it opened a decade ago, received two stars from Frank Bruni back in 2005, and gained another when Pete Wells reviewed his work just last year. This is the chef's last week at The Modern. His replacement, The Nomad's former chef de cuisine Abram Bissell, is already working at the restaurant.
