Revamped Classic Gallaghers Reopens Tonight

After some delay, Dean Poll's revamped and now apostrophe-less Gallaghers opens for dinner tonight. Poll rescued the 86-year-old Theater District classic, formerly known as Gallagher's Steakhouse, from imminent closure last year, and then closed it down for a multi-million dollar renovation in July.

Now it's back, with the classic horseshoe bar, a spruced up meat locker and a brand new dining room. The menu also has some updates, with dishes like hamachi crudo alongside the classic steaks, chops, and clams casino. Post critic Steve Cuozzo, who has been eagerly awaiting the return of his old standby, notes: "The result is a familiar stranger: It is and is not Gallagher's, redolent enough of the past to invite the wary thrill of revisiting an old paramour."
