The Mayors of Mulberry Street — Rich Torrisi, Mario Carbone, and Jeff Zalaznick — are at it again. Soon the unstoppable Torrisi Triumvirate will open a new Italian seafood restaurant in a space that sits directly under the entrance to The High Line at the corner of Gansevoort and Washington streets. The restaurant is housed in an Apple Store-esque glass cube that will be foggy all the time because this place, like all of the Carbone Crew's restaurants, is guaranteed to be hot and exceptionally moist.
The Sultans of Sauce did a pretty good job papering the windows, but they left one corner bare. From here, we can see what appears to be a U-shaped bar in the center of the room — or is that a crudo counter, or maybe an open kitchen? The tables and chairs were dropped off, and it appears that the room will sport some big banquettes for VIPs and assorted members of the Schnabel family.
Judging from a sign in the window (and Craigslist), it looks like the Monsters of Mozz are hiring all sorts of BOH and FOH team members right now. No word yet on what this restaurant will be called or when when it will open, but if you stare at this photo, you can almost taste the $49 scungilli salad for two. The boys are also planning to open a new bakery soon, as well as 1,345 new locations of Parm.
