TGI Fridays' Mobile Mistletoe created some mischief late last week when it knocked into a photographer from the Brooklyn Daily. The drones have been dispatched with kiss cams at a handful of Friday's locations, including the one in Sheepshead Bay, to capture smooches between diners. But Georgine Benvenuto, who was there covering the launch of the drones, had a much less pleasant run-in with one of the devices. As she told the paper: "It literally chipped off a tip of my nose...It took off part of my nose and cut me here, right under my chin."
Drone operator David Quiones says the incident was an accident. The drone was supposed to land on Benvenuto's hand, but according to Quiones, she flinched, causing the attack. So far, Fridays doesn't seem too worried about the incident. Quiones added: "If people get hurt, they're going to come regardless. People get hurt in airplanes, they still fly....There is a risk involved — anything flying, there is risk."
