The punches for TGI Fridays just keep coming. Word of the Union Square location's forthcoming shutter came in August, when the chain's three story 12,615 square-foot space supposedly went on the market. But, it appears there was a delay. Now, the Commercial Observer reports that the building is officially listed along with the 21,000 square-feet the company owns on 5th Avenue in the upper 40's. Both locations are still operating for the time being, but the Union Square one is reportedly just barely breaking even and the chain was forced to shutter its 42nd Street location this summer and auction off all of its knickknacks.
There are still rumors that TGI Fridays will rise from the ashes to open a complex with LA-based chain FatBurger on 34th Street in Murray Hill, but nothing seems definite. At least there's some cheer at the chain. Mobile Mistletoe, aka mistletoe attached to drones, is being deployed at an outpost in Sheepshead Bay this week.
