‘Tis the season, apparently, for chefs to open fast-casual side projects. There's Chris Jaeckle's Uma Temakeria and how could one forget Marco Canora's broth sipping spot Brodo? Now, San Antonio chef Jesse Perez, who made a name for himself with the very well received Arcade Midtown Kitchen, is moving up north to open Óxido, a fast-casual modern Mexican restaurant across the street from Eataly. Details are still scarce, but it sounds like a sort of build-your-own Chipotle, where diners will be able to mix and match proteins, sauces and salsas for their burritos, bowls, or tacos. Expect the restaurant to open by February. 18 West 23rd Street, Flatiron
