Momofuku Ko, the crown jewel of David Chang's empire, is now settling in to its new home on Extra Place. It's is far roomier than the original with 25 seats, including some at tables, and has a much sleeker feel. The ground is polished concrete and the counter, which surrounds the kitchen, is clean and minimal, as is the separate cocktail bar. The real show-stopper of the space is the painting by legendary street artist David Choe, but backlit refrigerator cases stocked with booze and ingredients also double as decor, as does a wall of food books.
The expansion comes at a price for diners. Dinner, which is now somewhere between 17 and 20 courses, runs $175, instead of the old $125. It's much too early for any reviews, but a few early visitors have shared some insights for those considering dropping their Christmas bonuses for a meal.
