At the end of last month, New Yorkers said goodbye to wd~50, Wylie Dufresne's groundbreaking modernist restaurant on the Lower East Side. Now Wylie Dufresne is saying goodbye to everything in wd~50, down to the last salt shaker. Though some may note that he's been trying to sell off at least his stove on Twitter for a while now, tomorrow the entire contents of the restaurant (stove included) go up for auction.
There, with enough money and a little bit of luck, one might get their hands on anything from a deep fryer to a nice sauce pot, a set of cocktail glasses, a banquette, or the entire 14 foot marble bar. The auction takes place at 2:30 p.m. at the restaurant tomorrow. It could be a great place to find that unique holiday gift for your favorite at-home modernist chef or wd~50 aficionado.
