It may have taken a very long time, but Tijuana Picnic, the newest project from Acme and Indochine vets Jon Neidich, Jean-Marc Houmard, and Huy Chi Le, is finally opening tonight in the old Laugh Lounge spot. The bi-level space got a retro makeover over the past several months, and now sports plenty of vinyl booths and circular banquettes, and a couple communal tables.

Kittichai alum Alex Lopez's menu is, as promised, Mexican-ish, and also Asian-ish. Think tortilla soup with mini Chinese pork dumplings, and a pork chop marinated with coconut milk and a Thai-spiced chimichurri. There's also a fairly petit wine, beer, and cocktail list, to go with a fairly petit bar. The restaurant's still listed as "offline" on OpenTable, but it promises to open at 6 p.m. today.
