Sandy's wrath washed away most of the restaurants in South Street Seaport, including one of the area's best and least touristy options, Barbarini Alimentari. After the storm, one half of the ownership team, husband and wife duo Linda and Claudio Marini, sought higher ground over on Ann Street, while their partners, Stefano Barbagallo and Adriana Luque stuck around to rebuild the Barbarini space as Barbalu. Two years later, their new restaurant, Da Claudio is open. It opened quietly for dinner last month, and just started serving lunch this week. The menu is more extensive than the one at Barbarini, but some of the items look familiar and there's still the salumeria. They've also added a cocktail program, including two different Negronis and a house take on the Venetian spritz.
