Jack's Wife Freda, the perennially popular Soho brunch spot, is planning to open a second location in the former Carmine Street home of Fatty 'Cue, which shuttered back in May. The space was subsequently unceremoniously seized by the City Marshal and returned the the landlord for unpaid rent, but now it's in the good hands of Dean and Maya Jankelowitz, who tell Grub Street that the new place will be a "natural extension" of the original, with a somewhat bigger space and a somewhat longer menu. They'll still serve all the classics, like peri-peri sweetbreads, prego rolls, and matzoh ball soup, but will also add some new dishes like lamb tartare. If all goes as planned, the new Jack's Wife Freda should be up and running by January. Jack's Wife Freda, 50 Carmine Street, West Village
