Uma Temakeria, the fast casual restaurant from All'Onda chef Chris Jaeckle and partner Cynthia Kueppers, has had to temporarily close due to what the chef describes as "massive water damage" from a burst water pipe. According to Jaeckle, the building had old pipes that needed to be replaced, so now the windows are papered over while the team cleans up the damage.
Uma Temakeria only just opened in late September, serving Latin-influenced Japanese handrolls to the Chelsea lunch crowd, so it's a particularly unfortunate turn of events for such a young operation. But the chef tells Eater he hopes to reopen by the end of next week.
