Williamsburg's Second Starbucks Opens With Coffee Seminars and Live Music, Hoping to Fit In

The shop is getting off to an even rougher start than the first Williamsburg Starbucks.

The second Williamsburg Starbucks opened yesterday and its doing what it can to blend into the neighborhood, in its own very Starbucks-y way. The shop has exposed brick and a large table dedicated to coffee seminars. There are also plans to host local bands and display artwork from neighborhood artists. But, it's is a bit too shiny for some neighbors. One visitor told DNAinfo: "It's somehow uglier to me than if they constructed a run-of-the-mill Starbucks." Starbucks is trying out a variation of this model in a few markets. It's also hoping to sell beer and wine but a 500 person petition forced a no vote from the Community Board. Still, it's up to the SLA, which hasn't made its final decision. Starbucks opened its first Williamsburg outlet earlier this year, much to the chagrin of hipsters everywhere.
