Eyes are starting to get watery as wd~50 prepares to say its final goodbye to the Lower East Side. Wylie Dufresne's team gathered Saturday afternoon for what appears to be a farewell photo:
And a note in the restaurant's window reads:
To our loyal customers,
We have been lucky to call Clinton Street home and we will miss this neighborhood and our valued guests. We hope to see everyone again very soon.
Thank you for your support over the last 11 years.
Next to it is a piece of paper that's blank, but for the word "Onward..." Dufresne has, of course, promised to try open a new restaurant, if not an exact copy of wd~50, somewhere else.
The restaurant will serve its last supper November 30 and tickets for it (and every meal leading up to it) are already sold out.
