Drunk Santas to Kick Off Annual Rampage in Bushwick This Year

New, 5 comments

Bar owners, lock your doors. SantaCon is coming to Bushwick.

SantaCon

It's almost that time of year again when drunk Santas stumble through the streets on a messy day-long bar crawl. And this year, for the first time, SantaCon is not starting its sloppy march in Manhattan but in Bushwick. Bushwick bar owners recently received an email from SantaCon's anonymous organizers, asking them to participate in the "annual creative charity event," which will take place on December 13. According to the email, the drunk Santas will be in the neighborhood from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (residents, take note), after which they'll move on to another, still undisclosed neighborhood. Last year the crawl spanned the Lower East Side, Downtown Brooklyn, Crown Heights, and Bed-Stuy, so there's still a possibility that the revelers will end up in Manhattan.

Last year SantaCon was met with resistance from the NYPDlocal politicians, and NIMBYs alike, but managed to appease all by cooperating with the NYPD. This year the organizers promise they're working with the local police, the community board, and the Parks Department. But we all know how well that worked out last year.
