As one might expect, eating food from street carts can be a tricky business. According to the New York Daily News, there were 359 documented cases of of food poisoning or less than sanitary conditions at street carts and trucks over the last three years. Complaints included "tainted food, workers without gloves, roaches on carts." These lax conditions are attributed to a lack of oversight for these vendors. In response to these claims, the Health Department has been asked to write up cleanliness regulations for mobile eateries across the city. In the meantime, dine with some common sense.
