Longtime Upper West Side staple Citrus will close sometime in the next few months and be replaced by a Mexican place. The restaurant is a project of Simon Oren, who runs nearby French Roast and Nice Matin, plus owns 5 Napkin Burger and was involved in the Union Square Pavilion for a time. Oren says his restaurant will likely open next spring, and he's already secured Community Board approval. There are rumors that Louie Lanza, who owns Citrus, is retiring, but he recently purchased five buildings in Peekskill and apparently plans to open several restaurants.
