Splashy London Import Zuma Readies for December Opening in Midtown

Midtowners can brace for their new power lunch spot.

Zuma, a splashy London-based Japanese restaurant with locations in Dubai, Bangkok, Miami, Abu Dhabi, and other cities around the world, is inching ever closer to opening its first New York restaurant in a giant two-level space on Madison Ave. between 38th and 39th Streets. Like at the other Zumas, there will be both a sushi bar and a robata grill, along with multiple bars for drinking, and the sushi program will be overseen by Katzutoshi Endo, a protege famed Tokyo sushi master Jiro Ono.

Open calls for staff started yesterday, the restaurant's Instagram and Facebook pages went live earlier this week, and sources say the team is looking to a late November/early December opening.
