It looks like Pete Zaaz, Crown Heights' favorite producer of weird pizzas, is making a surprise comeback. A message on the restaurant's Facebook page announces: "Pete's back with new management and will RE-OPEN soon after we undergo some renovations to brighten up the place!"
The restaurant closed at the end of August, after pizza mastermind Peter Entner stepped away from day to day operations over differences with his business partners. Without Entner for quality control, the pizza declined dramatically, and by all accounts the place was done for good. No word yet on who the new management is, or whether Entner is at all involved with the reincarnation (he did return to pinch hit in the kitchen during Pete Zaaz's last month in business), but Eater has reached out for more details. Update: Peter Entner tells Eater he bought out his former partners (the ones who ran the place into the ground) with a friend. So expect a revival of Pete Zaaz at its finest, baked potato pizza and all.
Meanwhile, Entner looks like he's very close to opening his new sub shop, Boomwich, on Atlantic Avenue.
