MIDTOWN — A rep sends word that Il Buco Alimentari vet Justin Smillie will open his market-driven, California-style restaurant Upland will officially open October 28 for dinner. [EaterWire]

LOWER EAST SIDE — Bedford and Bowery's second annual bazaar is coming to the Hester Street fair this Saturday. There's free beer from Brooklyn Brewery, plus duck sandwiches from Torst, ‘cue from Arrogant Swine, a fried chicken bar from Seoul Chicken, and more. There's also a DJ line up, and Billy Leroy of Travel Channel's Baggage Battles is hosting a pop-up. The festivities run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. [EaterWire]
