Excelsior Bar Finds a New Home; Regional Taco Tour at Cafe el Presidente

PARK SLOPE – Excelsior, the well-loved gay bar that shuttered in August, has announced that they will be moving to a bigger space, just a few blocks down 5th Avenue. The bar, which played host to owners Mark Nayden’s and Richard Kennedy’s wedding, had been open for 15 years in the old spot on 390 Fifth Avenue. [Facebook]

FLATIRON – Starting on Monday, October 20th, Café el Presidente will host a regional taco tour. The tour will feature a taco recipe from a different state of Mexico each day, as prepared by Chef Jason DeBriere. [EaterWire]

LOWER EAST SIDE – Chef Fernando Navas launches brunch at Balvanera this Saturday. It's available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the menu includes vegetarian items such as dulce de leche torrejas, thick brioche served in a skillet, and carnivorous options such as housemade chorizo, and skirt steak served with fresh chimi and salsa criolla. DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN – Hill Country Barbecue Market has tapped Seth Meyers to be the first guest of its "Brisket Sessions," on Thursday, October 23rd.
