News on Shuko, Nick Kim and Jimmy Lau's post-Neta sushi project, has been hard to come by. The pair garnered plenty of buzz for their summer-long pop-up version of Shuko out in the Hamptons (the Seinfelds were into it. So were Matt Lauer and Gwyneth Paltrow) but there's been radio silence from the team ever since that ended in August.
Nevertheless, a recent trip past the space on East 12th Street shows that things are really coming along. The bottom half of the building, at least, is no longer bright blue (though the same cannot be said for the upper level). And there's some classy wood paneling on the facade now. A UPS delivery offered the rare opportunity to peek through the door, where it looks like the space is still gutted, but at least getting lots of deliveries. Shuko, 47 East 12th Street
