Hudson Street comfort food restaurant Cowgirl is going through a bit of a rough patch right now. The landlord just hiked the rent to $40,000 a month, and business has dropped after the holidays. Earlier this week, the owners took to Facebook to dispel rumors that the restaurant had lost its lease, and now manager Michelle Wakefield tells DNAinfo: "It's a struggle — it's especially hard when it's wintertime...we're still here, we're staying, we're not going anywhere." Parents and teachers at nearby P.S. 3 have been urging people from the school to support the restaurant. Wakefield notes: "We're just looking for as much community support as can be mustered up." Cowgirl will celebrate its 25th anniversary next month.
