It looks like the Artichoke team is no longer planning to take over Stanton Street greasy spoon El Sombrero. Bowery Boogie hears that the deal fell through in the last few months, and the CB3 records indicate that the Artichoke owners withdrew their liquor license application in October, and they did not apply again. Back in October, a waitress at the restaurant said that it was going to close in December, but now another employee mentions that there are "no further plans" regarding the shuttering of the restaurant. A server at the restaurant tells Bowery Boogie: "We are staggering along...Now people think we are closed so we are losing even more business! It's a mess!"
