It's been a long recovery, and more than one promised opening date has come and gone, but it looks like Dumbo's iconic River Cafe will finally reopen for dinner next month. The restaurant held a celebratory New Year's Day brunch in the main dining room yesterday, and an employee tells Eater that it will begin serving dinner again on February 1.
Owner Michael "Buzzy" O'Keeffe has been carefully restoring the restaurant to all of its former glory since the entire thing was gutted by Hurricane Sandy last year. The private events space has been open for some time already, but it's taken until now for the kitchen and main dining room to get back to full working order. The River Cafe will begin taking reservations for the reopening some time next week. Its sister restaurant, The Water Club, which was also shuttered by Sandy, reopened in October.
