Beloved Prospect Heights ice cream shop Ample Hills is planning a massive location in Gowanus. The new outpost will be at 305 Nevins Street, directly adjacent to the soon-to-open Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club, and just down the block from the most anticipated Brooklyn grocery store of all time. Unlike the normal ice cream shop-sized original, this new spot will have a retail shop with indoor and outdoor seating, a visible manufacturing facility and a second floor reserved for private parties.

Owners Brian Smith and Jackie Cuscuna also have an outpost at Brooklyn Bridge Park, and are publishing a cookbook in April. Their Gowanus "ice cream paradise" is slated to open in May 2014, at which point that particular stretch of toxic canal will be well on its way to becoming a genuine destination.
