Storied Soho tavern Milady's shuttered for good after service last night. News of its impending closure broke on Saturday afternoon, and the bar was packed all day yesterday. Milady's was a popular hangout for Soho's old guard, as well as chefs, writers, artists, and celebrities. Longtime regular Paul Sosnowski told WNYC: "You're going to see guys who write for some wild magazine and the next guy catches pigeons for a living...this is a real place." Jeremiah Moss reports that the landlord decided not to renew the lease, and that the staff was told about the closure of the bar on Friday. Milady's ran out of beer early in the day, but employees restocked the bar with bottles from a nearby bodega. Photographer Daniel Krieger stopped by at 6:45 p.m. last night.
