Potatopia, the latest single dish restaurant to land in New York City, is now open in the West Village, serving potatoes and only potatoes. To be fair, those potatoes do come in a wide variety of forms: the options range from potato chips and french fries to mashed potatoes, baked potatoes, and potatoes au gratin. And everything can be topped with a choice of meats, vegetables, cheese and sauces.
This is the second outpost and the first New York location of the potato-centric takeout spot, which originated in Edison, New Jersey. It announced itself to the Village way back in the spring, and Robert Sietsema filed a preview for the Village Voice back in May, but various delays have kept it in plywood until just now. Finally, however, it's possible to dine on every iteration of potato imaginable.
