The Franks on Res; Talk Like a Pirate Day at Do or Dine

INTERVIEWS — Frank Falcinelli and Frank Castronovo talk to Grub Street about the upcoming Le Fooding dinners at Res, as well their future plans for the venue. The former, they say, "is like the iPhone 9 of food events." The latter will likely include an appearance by Rene Redzepi in November. [GS]

BED STUY — Today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day, and to celebrate the occasion, Do or Dine is offering a free rum and Coke to anyone who talks like a pirate for the duration of their meal. [EaterWire]

INWOOD — The Parks Department is in trouble with local residents for granting La Marina, a city-owned venue on the waterfront, permission to host up to 1,800 people at once. Neighbors claim they were under the impression that the place could only fit 500, and complain about the hordes of rowdy, scantily clad patrons flooding the neighborhood. [DNAinfo]

EXPANSIONS — Nick Kokonas and Grant Achatz first revealed plans to expand their Chicago cocktail bar The Aviary to New York back in February, and now Kokonas has an update. He tells Aviary is Haunted: "We are in negotiations with a high-end hotel group to open in several cities over the next few years," but adds that he has "no idea if it will come to fruition." [~EN~]
